Revisiting the Douani Kiosk installation

After three months of research and participatory exchanges with communities in the Natitingou municipality and surrounding area, the first solar kiosk was installed on 9 June 2016.

The project was conducted in two stages. For the first stage, the final meeting took place with the Kiosk Management Committee which had been implemented in advance. This meeting facilitated a run-through of all the content of the lease agreement with Solergie Bénin. After a detailed read-through of each article, the committee and the Douani village representative agreed to lease the solar kiosk according to the terms set out in the agreement.

Then, the Solergie team proceeded with the installation of the kiosk, in the house of a manager unanimously selected in advance. 40 lights were put on sale there. A number which will be gradually increased to 80. The installation of the kiosk was greeted with much enthusiasm within the community. To demonstrate the village's good faith, one of its elders purchased a lamp as soon as the kiosk had been set up. Already by the 14 June, 10 lamps had been sold and 40 portable lamps had been charged. A further two kiosks will be set up before the end of the month. The fourth will follow in the first two weeks of July.
