"Working together is growing"

Enterprising and creative. That describes them best. Seven students of the Royal Institute in Sint-Lambrechts-Woluwe set to work and opened their own organic food shop at school. And it was a success. Indeed, they donated the nice proceeds of 500 € to the Collibri Foundation.

Sint-Lambrechts-Woluwe temporarily had an organic store. Seven mentally disabled students ran their own 'Bio Zone' shop at school. They sold healthy and tasty organic products and for this turned to Mario Mertens, store manager of the Nossegem Bio-Planet store. "Mario gave us tips on how to deal with this. But we did everything else by ourselves. Each student helped us throughout the process, from purchase to sale." Their catching enthusiasm reveals that it was a pleasant project.

They gladly gave up their breaks to keep the shop open. "We were allowed to be creative organising and decorating it. It really became 'our' little shop. And business went well, we completely sold out. Especially the gift baskets and waffles; they sold like hot cakes." A great success. "Working together is growing", Pieter proudly declares. "Our project brought in 500 euros, and we wanted to help others with our profit. So we immediately knew we wanted to donate the money to the Collibri Foundation. Because we had always been able to count on Colruyt Group."

What will be done with the proceeds? Colruyt Group will double the amount of 500 euros and will use it for several different projects at the school's request. This allowed seven classmates to finish a fascinating school year with a good feeling. We wish them all a well-earned holiday.
