Colruyt employee Soulemou from Benin speaks about his country
Every year, a few students of the University of Louvain-Limburg (UCLL) travel to the South for an immersion training in the framework of the BANABA International North-South cooperation.
Marthe and Ian will be leaving at the end of October; they will work for 6 months in 2 projects supported by Collibri in Benin:
** the training of 30 young people to become rice farmers in cooperation with UCLL
** the organisation of a production unit for solar lamps in cooperation with Solar zonder Grenzen.
Apart from Marthe and Ian, 4 more students left for Benin on 27 October.
The students are coached intensively for this radical experience. To properly prepare for this trip, the project coach Françoise of UCLL asked Colruyt whether they did not know people from Benin who would be willing to speak about their own experiences in their homeland.
Soulemou, who works at the distribution centre of Dassenveld, did not have to think long about this. On 15 October, after a short stay in Benin, Soulemou showed a captivating presentation to the students who are about to see and stay in his country.
